About The RAV4 Air Filter
Air enters and then is cleaned of debris by this filter before reaching the engine (or turbocharger first if fitted).
It is easily replaceable and forms part of a standard service on a Toyota RAV4 to ensure the car continues to perform as efficiently as possible.
RAV4 Air Filter Part Number
The part number for the air filter that fits in a Toyota RAV4 depends on the age as well as the engine size in your particular model.
You can use the filters on this page to determine your exact model to view the correct filter that will fit.
Air Filter Cost
Toyota has made the air filter in the RAV4 extremely easy to change and thanks to that fact the labor cost should remain particularly low.
The actual filter is also pretty cheap, sitting at between $10 and $40 depending on age and engine size.
Replacing the filter yourself is also possible thanks to its easy access – although you won’t earn a service book stamp if you DIY it.
RAV4 Air Filter Change Interval
You are advised by Toyota to change the air filter every 10,000 miles – although the manufacturers tend to edge on the overcautious side.
Realistically you could change it between every 15,000 and 30,000 miles of normal driving conditions.
If you have your car serviced every year then you may as well get it changed during this process to keep maintenance costs lower.
Air Filter Housing & Hose
The RAV4 air filter sits inside a black box that you will find on top of the engine to the right on most of the models.
You can then open the top of that housing upwards to access the air filter inside, attached loosely and easily replaceable.
Coming out of the air filter housing to the top left (when viewing from the front of the car) you will see the hose that then goes off into the engine, carrying the clean air within it.
